Today
To the days that do not demand or require too much from me — that can be had by me without the guilt or anxiety that gathers and gathers, thank you. To the days that pull at my chin, put a finger there, and point up, thank you. For placing my attention on shades of impossibly green greens and brilliant yellows, honeyed browns, and the delicate pinks tugging at the fullest parts of my mouth, thank you. To the days that hold my heart, just like that, taking my soft flesh and considering every bit of her, thank you. To the days that offer so much life. Still. Even when you’ve come to know and see and witness just how fragile all of this is, thank you so very much. To the days teaching me how to have them, over and over again - you’re keeping me here and I don’t take any moment where endurance is pressed everywhere it is needed for granted. Dear day and all that you bring with you, you are appreciated.
